MountainsThe environment of Sopra e Sotto counts 4 national parks, the closest is the 'Monti Sibillini' with the Monte Vettore (2,476m) as its highest peak. Ringed by mountains is the Piano Grande, which literally means the great plain. Quite impressive and especially renowned for its beautiful floral displays in spring. The ‘Monti Sibillini’ is a perfect area for climbing and hiking all through the year. With its white tops and clear blue sky, this park is an amazing winter wonder land offering plenty of opportunities for winter walks and (pleasure) skiing. The same goes for the ‘Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga’. When the sky is clear, you can see the majestical ‘Corno Grande’ (2.912m) from almost anywhere in Le Marche. Apart from its mountainous landscape, the 'Gola della Rossa e di Frasassi' is famous for its impressive caves which can be explored in many different ways: from a simple group excursion to exciting potholing excursions. |

HillsThe land between the high mountains and the coast is quite hilly. It looks like patchwork made of vineyards, olive and fruit trees, sunflowers and cornfields. Ideal for trips by bike, motorbike or car. Narrow winding roads offering breathtaking views lead you to several medieval villages with a bar or ‘gelataria’ on each street corner! |

CoastThe coast line of Le Marche is almost 100 miles long. Interrupted at Ancona by the ‘Monte Conero' national park with its typical steep limestone rocks and small cosy beaches. Further down the coast are wide sandy and pebbled beaches for some typical beach fun! The most famous beaches in the area are: Porto san Giorgio, San Bernedetto del Tronto en Grottamare. |
