RegionThe name 'Marche' originates from the Germanic word 'Marka' meaning border/border land. Around the 11th century, the Holy Roman Empire stopped where the region of Le Marche now starts. The region is 9,694km2 and home to ca. 2.5% of total Italian population, mostly farmer families. The people are friendly, hospitable and authentic.
